Had my heart set on this painting

This is such a lovely old painting, the shade of pink, the rosy cheeked little girl

I had my heart set on this and I bid as high as I could go and did not get it. That is trouble with auction buying you are more often than not disappointed, unless you have very, very deep pockets you lose more often than win the item.

She would have fit perfectly in my living room I had spot for her. 

So my search continues I will seek out more auction houses and check all my local antique shops I want something from that era 19th century woman or girl child oil preferably with pink in it or wearing pink. I hope whomever bought her enjoys her.

Staying in the town of Versailles, France

The town of Versailles is much more than just the home of the chateau where French Kings lived and hunted.

It is a pretty little town about 40 minutes from Paris.

 We had the great pleasure of staying at the Trianon Palace Hotel. a Waldorf Astoria property.

 The hotel also is home to a spa run by Guerlain.

The air inside the hotel is scented with Guerlain parfum. 

It has two onsite restaurants both excellent. And the property is right next to the palace grounds --you can see the goats and sheep grazing in the fields. When you walk out the front door of the hotel and turn right you are right at the Queen's entrance to the chateau grounds.

The grounds are open even when the palace is not. We  had fun walking around on Monday when it was relatively empty.We rented a golf cart and went all around and fed the swans.

It was fun walking around the town and discovering cute antique shops. It was also a nice change of pace from the bustle and traffic of Paris.

 I want to go back and spend more time in the town.

Peggy Porschen Pink London Bakery

Truly one of the highlights of our recent trip to France and London was a visit    ( OK 2 visits) to the Peggy Porschen Bake shop in Belgravia. 

It is so PINK.

The cakes, cookies, hot chocolate are so yummy. It was still decorated from the May Chelsea Flower Show decorating. I could have just remained there for a week and been happy.

 I would love to take a peony flower making class. I did buy the cutters for peony leaves and may try it on my own.

She does some amazing wedding cakes that is what she is known for and for her baking books and her academy for training pastry arts.
